Origin of name
Tiramisu’ family Italian recipe is the personalized version of the original recipe. This is one of the most famous dessert in the Italian tradition but what does means the word TiramisΓΉ? Literally means βpick me upβ or “cheer me up”. The origin comes from Treviso a town of north Italy in his dialect “pick me up” you say βTireme suβ but after they changed in the most common Italian TiramisΓΉ.
What is inside?
The main ingredients are eggs, mascarpone, sugar, ladyfingers, coffee and cocoa powder. If you read the recipe it is very easy to make and it da not requared much time. First you have to whip egg yolks and sugar, then add the mascarpone and the whipped egg whites. The ladyfingers are soaked in coffee and alternated with the layers of egg and mascarpone cream, at the end you cover with powered cocoa. you can add liquour the most common is Marsala. In case you don’t want use ladyfingers you can made it with sponge cake.
What is the history?
There are different theory about the origin of tiramisu’ one is this: an Italian man Carminantonio Iannaccone trained as a pastry chef in my family town, in the South of Italy, Avellino, then he migrated to Milan to find work at the age of 12. Around 1960 he married and he opened a restaurant of name Piedigrotta . He says it took him two years to perfect the recipe but this recipe was ufficial become famous later. The owner of an other restourant called Le Becchiere, Roberto Linguanotto, claimed to have maid first. We don’t know for sure who was first but just that in short time Tiramisu’ become famouse like the most delicius coffee dessert able to eat with spoon.
My family tradition
Tiramisu’ Italian family recipe was always loved from my family. when l was child l was always fascinated how she was making so easy this delicius dessert and how she knows perfectly how much dip in the coffee ladyfingers. My mom like to make in advance and frozen to have ready for any unexpected guest or dessert to bring over friends house. The recipe l propose is with not liquor and decaf to make children and adults happy to eat without spend no sleep in the night for his caffeine.
One important thing you need to be sure before to make tiramisu’ is to have fresh eggs. We are not going to cook the eggs so his freshness is very important.
